Green Woodworking Courses

Green woodworking is quite a satisfying approach to working with wood as it is a direct link from tree to finished object.  

Spoon carving - 1day
A very relaxing day of turning a piece of green wood into your very own hand carved spoon. Choice of two approaches either turning a blank on a treadle lathe then splitting the wood before carving or splitting and shaping the wood with an axe before carving. Introduces the two main skills of green woodworking, splitting/cleaving wood then using an axe to shape, we will also use knives for finer work. Course includes tuition, materials, lunch, tea and coffee. 

How to make a shaving horse - 2 days    
I have always maintained that with a shave horse and ‘Black and Decker Workmate’ you can make just about anything. Once you have made one you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Course includes tuition, lunch, tea and coffee; there may be an extra charge for materials depending on what is available at the time.
